Can You Hear Me?

Because of Occupy Cal, I was hit in the eye and in the arms with a baton. Because of Occupy Cal, my friend was beat in the stomach repeatedly with a baton…and then sent to jail. 

Who did this? The POLICE. 

What did we do? We fought for our right to have an education.

Now…I know what you’re thinking….

“What do pictures of the 9/11 or the Japanese earthquake have to do with this 2ne1 cover contest?”

Well, that’s a good question. I was listening to the lyrics of “Lonely” and decided to change it up a bit. I translated some of the lyrics into Mandarin and English and left some other parts in Korean. I apologize for not being able to translate it into Japanese, Spanish, or etc. 

Now, I tweaked the meaning of the lyrics, as well. It is mainly in the perspective of a girl (or guy), who has lost their loved one through a tragic incident, whether it be through a natural disaster, a terrorist attack, not getting the proper necessities, or even through depression. (I also apologize for not covering other topics, but this song is only 3 minutes long..so I can’t really cover every single issue out there. Just because I did not include it in the video does not mean that I don’t think it is important.)

I have been truly lucky, since I have never truly lost any loved one; however, I have always wondered..”what if something like this happened to me?”

I have also noticed that many people have just stopped CARING about these events, such as the Japanese earthquake/tsunami. Just because the media isn’t focusing on it..it does NOT mean that people are STILL not suffering from it. Family members, husbands, wives, mothers, daughters, sons, and more all are suffering from the consequences of the Japanese earthquake. Many people still do NOT have a home to go to..or money to buy food anymore. Not only this, people are STILL in pain from the 9/11 attack 10 years ago. Or..even…many parents are stricken with grief that their child died in their arms because they simply did not have enough money to pay for food, clean water, or shelter. 

Yet….we still focus on the latest fashion update..or that new TV show that just came out. We are NOT grateful for everything we have…we truly do not appreciate it. Heck, most people will just watch this video and just move on. 

However, I’m asking you guys to do several things. Be grateful for what you have. You are truly fortunate, even if you have certain family issues, financial trouble, or etc. Along with this, help others in need, whether it be by donating, volunteering, or even helping your friend cope with a certain incident.
